Poor communication is the most common complaint in NSW Health patient experience data. The Statewide Health Literacy Hub is helping improve this by building skills across NSW Health through evidence-based foundational training.

Module 1

What is health literacy and what does it mean for me?

This module is for all NSW Health staff, no matter their role. It will help you learn simple, practical ways to support health literacy. By making health information clear and easy to access, we can remove barriers, improve people’s experiences and provide safer, higher-quality care.

Module 2

Written health communication

We all have a role in making written health information clear and easy to use. This module is for anyone who writes, reviews, approves or shares health information. It provides practical ways to improve letters, instructions, forms, factsheets, posters and web content.
